Privacy Policy

Your journeys are yours. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have over your data on Passport.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, username, profile photo, bio, and — if you sign in with Google — your Google account's basic profile (name, email, avatar). We also collect content you create: passport stamps, posts, photos, videos, reels, stories, reviews, comments, saved trips, bucket-list destinations, and direct messages.

2. Location Data

When you add a stamp, post, review, or reel, you may attach a location (city, country, and optionally coordinates). Location is used solely to place your travels on your personal atlas, power the interactive world map, surface country-specific content, and improve recommendations. We do not track your continuous background location on the website.

3. Travel History

Your passport stamps and saved trips form your travel history. This is stored in our database and displayed on your personal dashboard. Your world-exploration statistics (countries visited, miles, level) are derived from this history.

4. Photos & Videos

Photos and videos you upload (posts, stamps, reviews, stories, reels, bucket-list covers) are stored securely and served through our media endpoints. Stories are automatically removed 24 hours after posting. You can delete any media you own at any time.

5. Reviews & Posts

Reviews, posts, comments, and reels you create are shown publicly within Passport, attributed to your username and avatar, so the community can discover places and experiences. You control what you share and can delete it.

6. Payment Information

Subscriptions (Passport Plus, Pro, Elite) are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. Passport never sees or stores your full card number, CVC, or bank details — these are handled entirely by Stripe under PCI-DSS compliance. We retain only a subscription reference and status.

7. Analytics & Crash Reporting

We use privacy-respecting product analytics and crash reporting to understand feature usage and fix bugs. These identifiers help us improve the product and are removed when you delete your account.

8. Cookies

On the website we use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in (your session token) and remember preferences. We do not sell your data to advertisers.

9. Data Protection & Encryption

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Access to our systems is restricted and authenticated.

10. Your Privacy Controls

You can edit or delete your content, download a full copy of your data, and permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy, or via our public Delete Account page. See sections on data export and deletion.

11. Children's Privacy

Passport is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Third-Party Integrations

We integrate with Stripe (payments), Google (optional sign-in), a managed email provider (transactional emails), and an AI provider that powers the Travel Planner and TravelDate features. These providers process only the data necessary to deliver their service.

13. User Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to access, correct, download (port), and delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Use the in-app tools or contact us to exercise these rights.

14. Data Retention

We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal data is removed immediately where possible, and otherwise within 30 days. We may retain limited, non-personal records (such as a hashed deletion log) for legal, security, and tax obligations.

15. Contact Us
